Batting average and strike rate
Batting average is total runs divided by the number of times a batter was dismissed, not the number of innings played. Batting strike rate is runs scored per 100 balls faced. A useful comparison considers format, role and sample size.
Bowling economy and strike rate
Economy rate measures runs conceded per over, while bowling strike rate measures balls bowled per wicket. Both are helpful, but the phase of an innings and playing conditions can change what counts as an effective spell.
